Boxing classes for 6-9 year olds In June 2026, we will be launching exciting introductory boxing classes for children aged 6–9 years old. These sessions will take place every Monday from 5:00–6:00pm at Strode’s College, Egham and are designed to introduce young participants to the fundamentals skills of boxing in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. The classes will focus on developing key skills such as footwork, as well as basic defensive and offensive techniques, all while maintaining a fun-first approach that encourages confidence, fitness, and enjoyment. Best of all, these sessions are completely free to attend! Thanks to the generous support of Runnymede Borough Council, more children have the chance to get active, have fun, and give boxing a try. Girls only Boxing classes for 13 -17 year olds From June 2026, we’re launching exciting new girls-only boxing sessions for those aged 13–17 — a great chance to get fit, build confidence, learn new skills, and train in a fun and supportive environment. These girls-only sessions will take place every Thursday from 5:00–6:00pm at Strode’s College, Egham and are designed for girls aged 13–17 who want to get active, build confidence, and try something new in a supportive and empowering environment. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, learn self-defence skills, relieve stress after school, or simply enjoy training with other girls your age, these sessions provide a welcoming space to do just that. The classes will introduce the fundamental skills of boxing, including footwork and basic defensive and offensive techniques, while focusing on building strength, confidence, resilience, and teamwork. No previous experience is needed — just come along, get involved, and have fun while learning something new. Best of all, the sessions are completely free to attend, kindly funded by Runnymede Borough Council to help create more opportunities for girls to get active and try boxing. Coach of the Year Award 2026 Head Coach Richard Johnson has received the Coach of the Year award at the Runnymede Civic awards 2026. Upon receiving the award, the following was announced: “Richard is the head coach of Egham Boxing and has built an inclusive and community-based boxing club, that brings people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities together. Despite working full-time with a young family, Richard dedicates significant time to delivering high-quality coaching, which builds discipline and confidence. When of the many nominations ended with.. he has changed my life, from a dark place to a darker place”. Egham Boxing has ambitious and qualified coaches. This award is, of course, a reflection of the whole team. Moving forward, we look forward to challenging ourselves further, whilst continually developing and improving knowledge and skills associated with boxing.
Highly Commended - Club of the Year Award 2026 Our boxing club narrowly missed out on another great award. However, another great achieving and recognition to all those involved at Egham Boxing. Upon receiving the award, the following was announced: “Egham Boxing is a thriving grassroots organisation that has made a lasting, positive impact on the local community. What began as a small local club, they are now a fully affiliated England Boxing organisation, reflecting the strong standards in coaching, safeguarding and athlete development. The club has a powerful impact on club members’ physical and mental wellbeing by helping to improve fitness, confidence, discipline and resilience".
Charley - England Boxing Level 1 Certificate Charley has received his England Boxing Level 1 qualification. This is a huge achievement and well-deserved, highlighting the level of competence Charley has built at such a young age. Charley is an integral part of the coaching team and he currently supports junior, senior and competitive boxers within the club.
Competition and results Recently, we’ve had lots of boxers competing on England Boxing affiliated boxing shows in Crawley, Horshamand Fishersgate (Brighton). We’ve had Ben and Luca successfully competing in skills bouts; Charley, Dan, Finley, Finn and Will have all make their debut competitive bouts; whilst Toby has picked up wins on the Crawley and Fishersgate boxing shows. This has been an invaluable and tremendous experience for our boxers and sets up an exciting end to the season. All our boxers are working hard to make big strides in the 2026-27 season, commencing in September.
Successful Interclub Sunday 22nd June was our second Interclub event, as we continue our development and progression into competition. We had three junior and four adult boxers taking part and they all demonstrated a great deal of competency and control. Thank you to Shaolin Tigers, Wokingham for their invite and we hope to see you again in the new season.
Surrey Community Games Egham Boxing have been selected to take the lead for boxing in the Runnymede, Spelthorne and Elmbridge boroughs, for the Surrey Community Games 2025. Boxers aged 11-15 years have been welcomed to train and upskill for a 12-week programme supported by Runnymede Borough Council. The programme will commence on 13th May and conclude on 29th July.
England Boxing Level 2 Qualification Head coach Richard Johnson has now successfully received his England Boxing Level 2 coaching qualification, aligning the club towards England Boxing affiliation for the new boxing season, in September. Exciting times ahead for Egham Boxing Club.
